Leicestershire County Council is holding workshops for any community groups interested in helping to run 36 of its smaller libraries - which include Asfordby, Bottesford and East Goscote.
The next ‘community partnership library’ workshops will be held at County Hall in Glenfield on Monday, May 19 and at Shepshed High School on Monday, June 16.
The workshops start at 6.15pm and finish at 8.30pm. A document giving more details about running a ‘partnership library’ will be made available in due course.
Under the council’s cost-cutting proposals community groups would manage their local libraries in partnership with the authority.
It is also looking to reduce the opening times of its other 16 major libraries - including Melton and Syston - which account for more than three quarters of library visits across the county.
A consultation on the council’s proposals is running until July 7.
