Members of Burton Lazars Flower Club celebrated the organisation’s 50th birthday at their December meeting.
A group of ladies started flower arranging in the village hall on December 4, 1964, and the club has met on the first Thursday of every month since then.
The club has an interesting programme of demonstrations, workshops and social events throughout the year.
To mark the half-century milestone a special cake, made by treasurer Elizabeth Simmonds, was enjoyed at the latest meeting, with president Enid Spreckly cutting up the slices.
Earlier in the year, a yellow rose bush was presented to the village’s St James’ Church at the June flower festival to commemorate the club’s anniversary.
