Crews from Melton and Bingham and two from Leicester’s London Road station were deployed to the property, on Dickmans Lane, at 11.36am.

They are being assisted at the incident by an aerial ladder platform and a command support vehicle from Shepshed.

A neighbour said the property is currently being renovated and that there were believed to be workmen inside at the time, although no-one is understood to have been injured in the incident.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We received a call to a property involved in fire at Harby.

“Crews confirmed that the house was well alight.”

Firefighters have been using four sets of breathing apparatus, a main jet, two hose reel jets and a thermal imaging camera at the scene.
