Firefighters from Melton Station rescued a cat which had been stuck up a tree for more than 24 hours.
The crew arrived at about 12.15pm on Monday to find the moggy stranded on a branch 10 metres up at a property on Gibsons Lane in Old Dalby.
A call was made by RSPCA officers who were concerned the cat was becoming distressed and hadn’t eaten for several hours.
Steve Warner, watch manager at Melton Fire Station, said: “We arrived on the scene following a call from the RSPCA. The owners had tried to entice the cat to come down by offering it food but with no success. The cat bolted up the tree after a dog had chased it.”
Firefighters used a 13.5 metre ladder to rescue the bewildered cat before handing it to the RSPCA to check it over.
The dramatic rescue took around 30 minutes. The owners of the pet were unavailable for comment at the time of going to press.
