Litter pickers clean up Leicester Road area of Melton

And those who took part in the exercise, organised by community group Melton Matters, are keen to do it again elsewhere in the town in the near future.

The litter pickers filled several bin bags with rubbish in just two hours as they looked in the hedgerows, footpaths and open ground.

Main organiser Chris Fisher, of Melton Matters, said: “We had a great turn out at the litter pick.

“A lot of the people that came said they want to come to future litter picks.

“Melton Matters is trying to purchase some litter picking tools for ourselves, especially for planned future litter picks.”
