Pupils from Swallowdale Primary School visited Leicester as part of their study of Hinduism.
Year 5 pupils went shopping along The Golden Mile, took part in a dance workshop and studied the life of Gandhi.
They also tried on colourful Hindu clothing and sampled some traditional food.
Deputy headteacher Nicola Ward said: “The trip was called Global Leicester and was a fantastic opportunity to experience another culture. The children all arrived back at school having had a brilliant day and have been busy writing thank you letters to all the volunteers involved.”
