Sherard school pupils have lots to celebrate

Friends of Sherard have received £3190 to fund the purchase of iPads and a storage trolley for the children of Sherard Primary School.

The donaton was provided by the Santander Foundation which offers grants to UK registered charities for projects that help disadvantaged people in local communities.

The grant will benefit 30 children from the school’s Special Needs Unit with medium learning difficulties allowing for enrichment activities which they would not always have access to.

Recently the school’s year fives performed at De Montfort Hall to an audience of 500 people, as part of the Leicestershire Schools Music Project.

The children wrote and composed alongside professional musicians from Sinfonia Viva. This was the culmination of several weeks of hard work in school creating music.

Today, a special school assembly marked the retirement of teacher Ms Isobel Quill, who has taught at the school for 26 years. Pupils were able to say their goodbyes and present her with some special vouchers.
