Pupils and staff at a Melton school have said goodbye to two popular members of staff who are retiring from duty.
Don Blakeson (78) taught music at Brownlow Primary School for 25 years and Simon Knott was a governor and voluntary tag rugby teacher for six years.
Mr Blakeson, who was presented with an engraved glass tumbler, took individual and group brass lessons and passed on elements of his trumpet expertise.
During a remarkable career he played with the Beatles during their studio sessions and also accompanied stars such as Shirley Bassey, Glen Campbell and Barry White.
He also performed with the London Orchestra and the BBC Radio Orchestra.
Head teacher Damien Turrell said: “The school has been well served by Don and we were lucky to have someone as talented as him in school.”
Mr Knott, who has had three children pass through the school, spent many hours teaching rugby skills.
Mr Turrell said: “Simon is a great example to the children of the value of volunteering.”
