Thrussington Forest Primary School received a cheque for £200 from Asda towards buying new resources and equipment for their outdoor ventures.

The Forest school which helps build children’s confidence and independence was selected as the winner for the ‘chosen by you given by us scheme’ at Asda in Thurmaston.

A voting scheme which lasted through October saw customers place counters into boxes after shopping.

Forest school leader Jo Berry said: “We had tremendous support from our parents which helped us to come 1st. The money is going to be spent on helping to develop a wild flower area, equipment for our outdoor cob oven for making pizzas and also a mini beast home.”

The Forest school has been running since 2012 and runs throughout the year for children in Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Lessons are carefully planned and adapted to cater for all children and their curriculum needs.
