A quintet of pupils from St Francis Catholic Primary School in Melton, were awarded the honour of opening the school’s annual book fair yesterday.

Michalina Piechowka, Millie Grant, Olivia Tylicka, Grace Fawkes-Naylor and Madison Graham won the school’s ‘Design a book cover competition,’ and so as well as being presented with gift vouchers to spend at the fair, they were responsible for cutting the ribbon, which signified the start of the event.

To coincide with the book fair and to mark 100 years since the birth of famous children’s author Roald Dahl, the school also invited pupils to dress up as their favourite characters from his novels.

During the week, children took part in making chocolate and marvellous medicines.

St Francis’s school book fair continues today and tomorrow from the hours of 8.30-9am and 3.15-4pm.
