The document, called the Pre Submission Draft Melton Local Plan, aims to shape future development in the Melton borough up to 2036.

It sets out the development strategy, policies and proposals, including site allocations, which will guide land use and development for the next 20 years.

Now, the draft plan will go out to public consultation. The consultation period lasts for six weeks, beginning on Tuesday, November 8 and drawing to a close on Monday, December 19.

Responses made in the consultation will then be submitted to the Government for consideration by a Planning Inspector, alongside the council’s Submission Draft Plan, as part of a public examination. This is expected to happen in February next year.

It is anticipated the final Local Plan will be adopted by the council by next March.
