CUPS were raised throughout the Melton borough on Friday as people took part in Macmillan Cancer Support’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

Among the many successes was an event held at St Mary’s Primary School in Melton which raised a fantastic £366.50.

Headteacher Sharon Deackes said: “It was a real school and community effort. A lot of our parents made cakes, a lot of neighbours came and the local community made a real effort to support the coffee morning.”

l Grimston Village Hall, £854 which included the sale of refreshments, cakes, produce, Christmas cards and a raffle.

l Goadby Marwood Village Hall, a record £407.33 raised of which £112 came from the raffle. A bring-and-buy was also held.
