Four people have been arrested and bailed on suspicion of slavery offences following police raids at three addresses in Leicestershire including one in Melton.

Following an ongoing police investigation, officers executed warrants, on November 12, at addresses in the Park Avenue area of Melton, Brisco Avenue area of Loughborough and Bagworth Road area of Bagworth, Leicestershire.

From within these addresses, four people were arrested – two men aged 37 and 63 and two women aged 36 and 64 – on suspicion of holding a person in slavery or servitude. They have all been bailed pending further enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Scott Cairns, from the force’s human trafficking and modern slavery team, said: “Our investigation remains ongoing and represents our continued commitment to tackle the issue of human trafficking and modern day slavery.

“We would encourage the public to recognise the signs of this type of crime and if anyone has any concerns about someone being exploited in this way, we would ask they report this to us.
