Drink driver is hit with 18 month ban

The following local cases were dealt with by magistrates sitting in Loughborough on December 11 and 16.

Billy Guiney (19), of Burton Road, Melton, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol and without insurance on Gloucester Crescent on November 20. Guiney had 67 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35mcg. He was banned from driving for 18 months which may be reduced by 20 weeks if he completes a course. He must also pay a £235 fine, £150 criminal courts charge, £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

Stephen Lapworth (48), of Charnwood Avenue, Asfordby, admitted a charge, on September 30, of not complying with conditions of a shotgun certificate. He didn’t notify of a change in address and didn’t keep the gun in a secure cabinet. He was discharged conditionally for 18 months, must pay a £150 courts charge, £85 costs and £15 victim surcharge.

Christopher Campbell (66), of Wolsey Way, Syston, admitted speeding on the M1 on March 20. He got a six month ban, £100 fine, £40 costs and £20 victim surcharge.
