Zoe Morrison (44) made the upsetting discovery when she visited the grave in Queniborough cemetery on South Croxton Road.

Two plaques engraved with ‘Baby Fenton Blue Morrison Dealey born asleep 03.07.16’ and a porcelain butterfly, engraved with ‘You are always in my heart’, were stolen from the graveside and a glass vase had been smashed.

Mrs Morrison, who discovered the theft and damage on June 15, lost her baby in July last year.

A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: “Enquiries have been conducted to identify any witnesses and we would now ask the public to contact us if they have come across any of these items discarded in the area.

“Also, if you have any information about who may be responsible then please get in touch.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact 7305 Steph Derham on 101, quoting crime number 17*252404.
