After five years serving the Melton Mowbray Team Parish the Rev Sharon Constable has stepped down.

She led her final United Parish Service of Holy Communion at Melton’s St Mary’s Church on Sunday.

The service was a joint moving on event for all of the six churches in the team, with many parishioners from the outlaying churches joining the congregation to give thanks for the many gifts Sharon and her husband Paul have brought to the area since arriving from Hong Kong over five years ago.

There was a farewell speech and gifts given to the couple followed by a buffet lunch.

Sharon said: “It’s been a wonderful five years serving the villages but it’s now time to move on and serve in pastures new. I look back with wonderful memories but look forward with excitement to meeting and serving the people in my new parishes.”

Sharon’s licensing as Rector of Broughton Astley with Croft and Stoney Stanton will be held on Wednesday, June 10 at 7.30pm in St Mary the Virgin Church, Broughton Astley.
