Birthday beacons will be lit all over the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK overseas territories to mark the occasion on April 21.

The exact lighting time of beacons will be confirmed in March. The Queen has graciously agreed to light the ‘principle beacon’ on the night of April 21.

There has been a tradition of lighting beacons to mark royal jubilees, weddings, coronations and special birthdays for hundreds of years.

Any community groups and parish councils in the Melton borough which would like to get involved are asked to contact Melton town centre manager Lisa Brown on (01664) 502335 or email her at [email protected] to ensure you are included on all future publicity on the borough’s beacons.
