A charity set up by inspirational Melton man and former Leicestershire Police sergeant Stewart Sparling, who died of motor neurone disease (MND) in May, has launched a new awareness-raising website.

Stewart (43) launched The Treble One Trust earlier this year to help fellow sufferers buy specialist life-changing equipment.

His friend, Helen Fairhead, said: “The new website raises awareness of MND and the charity. Sufferers become unable to speak, eat, walk or even breathe unassisted. Sadly there’s little or no support, particularly in the latter stages when mobility is key to keeping a dignified independence for as long as possible.”
