The operating company for the three-star, 81-bed hotel, near Melton, went into administration in January, with all 35 staff being made redundant.

But it reopened a week later under a new management firm, with the approval of the administrators, with employees being offered their jobs back.

Stories began surfacing in August of wedding receptions being cancelled, couples fearing they would lose deposits on the venue and staff walking out after not being paid.

The hotel closed again last month but a new owner is now finalising the purchase of the property - a former hunting lodge which dates back to the turn of the 20th century - and the business, which would trade under a new name of Scalford Park Hotel.

A recruitment open day is being held at the hotel on Sunday September 23, from 12 noon to 4pm, to fill vacancies for bar, waiting and kitchen staff, supervisors, head and sous chefs plus receptionists.

A spokesperson for the new owners, who also own Urban Hotel at Grantham, told the Melton Times: “We are still going through the process of acquiring the business.

“If everything goes through we could open by the end of October, or the start of November.

“We have organised the recruitment day for people who would like to come and work for us.”

Joint-administrators were appointed for the hotel company on January 2 and they allowed a six-month licence with a new operator to trade the business whilst they established if a sale as a going concern was possible.
