A record number of entries has meant the Melton Times Business Awards event has been moved to a new date.
There have been more than 100 entries for the awards, which creates a huge task for the judging panel.
In view of that, organiser Linda Pritchard has moved the event to May 21 instead of next Thursday, April 23.
The venue will remain the Banqueting Suite at Melton Mowbray Market.
Linda said: “We extended the deadline for entries by a week and more than 550 new entries came in, so there was no way the judges could do their jobs in the time we had left.
“It’s marvellous news, of course, but we decided the integrity of the wards was of paramount importance, so have made the decision to move the date now, so people have plenty of notice.
Melton TImes editor Paul Richardson said: “Not only did we have more entries than ever before, they are all of a high standard, so I don’t envy the formidable task the sponsors and judges have. It’s only right and proper to give them sufficient time.”
