An established retailer in Melton has announced plans to open a new cookware shop in the town centre early in the new year.
Jason and Rita Jupe, who have run their gift and accessory shop in Sherrard Street for five years, will launch the new business in King Street, in the property currently occupied by The Source.
Melton Vineyard Church’s services at the latter, including parenting, money advice and listening support, are being re-located to a unit on Sysonby Street, as part of a link-up with the borough and county councils.
The proprietors of Jupes, who will continue to run that shop, hope to open their new one in mid-February.
Mr Jupe said: “We think there is a market for it - after all we are supposed to be the rural capital of food in Melton and yet we don’t have a cook shop.
“We will basically be stocking anything to do with cooking, including things like baking trays and cake decorations, but nothing with a plug on it.
“We plan to also stock children’s cookery stuff and party packs for children.”
The Jupes plan to split their time between the shops and employ a team of part-timers to work in the new store.
