Melton’s newest supermarket will open its doors for the first time on Thursday when Mayor of Melton, Councillor Jeanne Douglas cuts a ribbon.

The new Lidl store, on Scalford Road, is providing 30 new full and part-time jobs and will be the chain’s 620th outlet across Great Britain.

Free tea and coffee, as well as bacon sandwiches and a barbecue, will be available throughout the day following the opening ceremony, which is at 8am.

The store, which will sell everyday household products as well as more luxury items and freshly baked goods, will be offering lots of special deals to mark the opening.

A Lidl spokesperson said: “We are delighted to be able to bring our multi-award winning products to Melton Mowbray.

“We would like to take the opportunity to thank local residents for their support throughout the duration of the works and we look forward to welcoming both new and existing Lidl customers to the store opening on Thursday.”

The opening hours for the store are 8am-10pm from Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sundays.
