The Melton branch of a well-known dry cleaning chain has closed and has made four members of staff redundant.
Johnsons Cleaners, The Bell Centre, shut at the beginning of the month.
It has closed due to a new partnership with Waitrose who will soon have the facility to take laundry from shoppers when they visit the supermarket.
A spokesman for Johnsons Cleaners said: “We’re delighted to announce that Johnsons Cleaners have teamed up with Waitrose to offer drop off and collect facilities for dry cleaning and laundry services in store.
“Following a successful eight store trial, the service has now been introduced to over 120 Waitrose supermarkets nationwide.
“The move reflects the habits of our customers and will mean enhanced convenience.”
The company have closed down 109 of its stores, which is roughly a third of its high street premises’.
A spokesman added: “Customers who are affected due to Melton’s closure have been offered the delivery service whereby Johnsons will collect and return laundry to the homeowner when convenient to them.”
Johnsons specialises in dry cleaning, alterations and repairs, laundry and ironing and homes textiles.
