Bidders from across the world flocked to an auction to bid for hundreds of lots from a house clearance near Melton.
Hansons reported huge interest this week in the sale of antique furniture and ornaments from The Old Hall at Burton Lazars.
A large George III Blue John Campana vase sold for £2,900 and a Staffordshire blue and white covered vase and bowl went for £1,800.
Statement garden pieces proved particularly popular with a pair of Corinthian carved limestone capitals, which are thought to be Roman, selling for £1,700.
Charles Hanson, owner of Hansons Auctioneers, said: “This sale exceeded all expectations and showed the desire to own items from a quintessentially English country house has enduring appeal, especially among Americans and Canadians who flocked to place bids online.”
