The new owner of Melton’s award-winning Gracies Sandwich Bar is hoping to make its future success her bread and butter.
Toni Baumann has pledged to continue the sterling work of previous owners Marcus and Grace West who opened the shop in Market Place six years ago.
The staff have all been retained and Grace will continue to work there part-time.
Toni said: “After working for Mars Petcare for 19 years I decided I’d like to take my knowledge and experience in business and look for a going concern that I would enjoy and thrive at the challenge. I’ve got my own thoughts and ideas of how I can take Gracies to the next level, but my primary focus is to ensure the current loyal customer base has the best experience possible.
“Grace and Marcus have built a strong brand that Melton recognises and in no way shape or form do I want to change that.”
Toni added: “The customers have been wonderful, I’ve received flowers and messages of support which shows you just how close the community is in Melton. I have the biggest amount of respect and love for Grace and Marcus as entrepreneurs and friends. They’ve done an amazing job and built a successful and strong business with high standards which I plan to keep.”
Outgoing owners Grace and Marcus said: “We’re sad to be relinquishing control over the business but everything has to come to an end. We’d like to say a massive thank you to our past and present staff and thank our great customers for all their support over the last six years as without it the business wouldn’t have been the success that it is.”
