A mad hatter’s competition for the best hat was just one of the many fantastic attractions at this year’s Alice in Wonderland themed Burrough-on-the-Hill village fete.
The event set in the gardens of Burrough House celebrated the 150th anniversary of Alice in Wonderland and aimed to raise funds for the upkeep of the of the 13th century church.
Activities included a cake and brownie competition, children’s races, a tombola, raffle and croquet.
There was also an auction of promises which included lots such as Formula 1 racing tickets and a signed England One Day International cricket shirt.
Organiser Lori King said: “The event on Saturday exceeded all our expectations and was a breath of fresh air.
“The gardens were full of decorations from the famous story including a glorious arch of cards.
“Matthew Hoggard compered the event and we raised about £5000 for the church.
“Overall there was something for everyone and around 250 to 300 people turned up on the day.”
