Woodside Animal Centre, the Leicestershire branch of the RSPCA, is reopening its new-look charity shop in Sherrard Street, Melton, after a three-week-long refurbishment.

To celebrate the big event on Friday (August 21) the animal re-homing centre will be inviting shoppers to take part in a raffle plus other fun activities.

There will also be food and drink on offer – with the chance of a surprise celebrity appearance - and visitors will get to meet one of the Woodside dogs who is looking for a new home.

All profits from the charity shop goes to the centre, which cares for thousands of sick and mistreated animals every year.

Cheryl Henderson, the store manager, said: “We’re very excited that the shop has been given a modern facelift, and we can’t wait to show everyone. It was looking tired, but now it looks like a new shop and it is much easier to find your way around.”

Selling everything from women’s clothing to DVDs and books, the shop aims to have something for every customer.

The shop reopening event will take place from 10am to 4pm.
