SUNDAY NOON: Police colleagues and biker friends were due to give Pc Phil Tomaszewski a moving send-off today as they joined his family in celebrating his life.
The 48-year-old, from Long Clawson, died two weeks ago following an accident in Clawson Lane, near Ab Kettleby.
The married father-of-two, known as Tommo, was riding his favourite Yamaha Warrior motorbike at the time. He was off-duty and no other vehicle was involved.
Pc Tomaszewski was a highly regarded officer based at Loughborough and was a member of the Blue Knights motorcycle club.
A motorcycle hearse with four police outriders was due to set off from Richard Barnes Funeral Directors in Wilton Road, Melton, at 11.45am today followed by up to 100 bikers.
At St Remigius Church in Long Clawson 50 police officers will form a guard of honour before the 12.30pm service.
After the service more bikers are expected to join the cortege as it makes its way to Loughborough Crematorium via the Salt Road from Clawson to Six Hills with one final 'burn up' in tribute to Tommo.
