Children dressed up as Alice in Wonderland and the Mad Hatter for a special party held at Melton Library.
The occasion was a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party organised to coincide with the 150th anniversary of Lewis Carroll publishing Alice in Wonderland.
It was put on by The Melton Bookshop, in partnership with Leicestershire County Council.
Catherine Baker, who own the Leicester Street-based book shop said: “It went fantastically well.
“We had load of kids dressed up as Alice and the Mad Hatter all running around the library.
“It was just adorable.”
Library staff read passages from the book and children tried their hand at lots of craft activities during the day. Food was provided by Gracies Sandwich Bar, which is in Market Place, Melton.
Catherine added: “We had loads of positive feedback from parents and it is something we are hoping to do again, perhaps with a different theme. The library needs extra footfall so it is great for them as well.”
