Excited Melton children were waved off by their parents today (Monday) as they boarded the coach for a week-long seaside holiday at Leicester Children’s Holiday Centre in Mablethorpe.
The 24 youngsters, aged between six and 10, joined 36 other children from Coalville as they travelled to the coast.
Mayor of Melton Jeanne Douglas wished the youngsters a happy holiday as the coach arrived at the Wilton Road car park to pick them up.
The Leicester Children’s Holiday Centre charity offers week-long holidays for children who, for various reasons, might not otherwise have a holiday.
Melton children have been going on the trips for years.
The charity, which was established in 1898, relies on fundraising, grant applications and occasional legacies to fund its work. Over the years more than 50,000 children have benefited from its work. For more details, including how to donate, visit leicesterchildrensholidaycentre.co.uk
