Green-fingered fanatics of all ages invited to Melton Mowbray Community Allotment Project's open evening
The allotments based at Melton Country Park (back of Doctors Lane, near Scalford Brook play park), will be open from 4-5pm and 6-7pm.
The aim of the open evening is to attract more supporters and volunteers, and discuss how Melton can make best use of the facility.

Hide AdMelton Community Allotment was set up in 2014, by Melton resident Vanessa Jackon and her husband, with funding from Melton Building Society and LCC Shire Grants.
There are currently a small number of people growing on the site, with support from the Leicestershire Master Gardeners, and Melton Mencap has taken on a bed for regular growing sessions.
Project organisers Vanessa Jackson, Keily Rutherford and Alison McGrath said: “Melton Mowbray Community Allotment is a space where residents can enjoy learning to grow their own food together and enjoy an activity that is life enhancing on many levels; from the satisfaction of eating delicious, fresh food that you have grown yourself, to finding a way to engage in healthy activity outside, without noticing that you are exercising.
“Now that the site is up and running with nine large raised beds and a secure shed for storage, we would like to engage with other community groups, businesses and council staff to make the best use of the site and involve as many people as possible to ensure that it develops into a sustainable resource.”
