There was plenty of Christmas cheer as crowds packed Syston town centre on Saturday for the town’s annual festive fun day.
One of the highlights was a performance by local singer Sally Barker, a finalist on TV talent show The Voice earlier this year.
A full programme of entertainment was put on in Park Square.
Santa Claus paraded into the square via St Peters Street and Melton Road and he was visited by dozens of children and their parents in his grotto.
There was an extensive range of over 40 food, craft and gift stalls, many of them selling potential Christmas gifts.
Billy Bates was there with some children’s fairground rides to amuse the youngsters who attended.
And the day gradually built up to the centrepiece event - the switching on of the town’s Christmas lights.
A spokesperson for Syston Town Council, which organised the event, said: “It was crowded pretty much all day.
“And we heard from several people that it was the best Christmas event we’ve had.”
