Football fans who study at Wreake Valley Academy were recently given the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to stand on Leicester City’s pitch moments before a game at the King Power Stadium.
Students from the school attended Leicester’s Champions League match versus Club Brugge on Tuesday, and helped wave the Champions League, centre circle flag prior to kick-off.
The group of 20 were able to watch the match and cheer the Foxes on to a 2-1 victory. The win meant Leicester qualified for the knock out stages of the Champions League for the first time in the club’s history.
Prior to the game, students received a 90-minute football training session from former Leicester City player and Northern Ireland international, Gerry Taggart, at St Margaret’s Pastures.
All were given Champions League caps to keep as a souvenir of their evening.
Wreake Valley Academy football teams have also recently played against visiting schools from Toronto, Canada. Both year 10 and 11 teams represented the campus to the highest level.
