Ellie Eggleston, a Year 7 pupil at John Ferneley College, was awarded third prize in the Year 7 to 9 category in the Show Racism the Red Card and Kick it Out School Competition.

She was also named as the favourite of all the entries by one of the competition sponsors Potts Print UK.

The competition was launched by the Football Association (FA).

Ellie came up with the idea of two hands joining around the world and created the design on a black background, surrounded by stars.

Her proud mum Zoe said: “Ellie is quite arty and told me that the idea had just popped into her head. She really enjoyed taking part in the competition.”

As part of her prize Ellie was given tickets to see a Leicester City football match and attended an award ceremony at Stamford Bridge, the home of Chelsea Football Club.
