They made a birthday card with a book of drawings and were excited to receive a reply from the Queen’s lady-in-waiting.

In the letter, the queen thanked the children for their “colourful” card and drawings she recieved from them and said she appreciated their thoughtfulness.

The class had been on a trip to the local post office to send the card to her.

Nursery manager Katie Pollione said: “The kids were so excited to make the queen a card, they loved looking at pictures of her and enjoyed learning all about the queen in our queen themed week.

“The Queen loves cake” the children told the staff “she will eat lots of cake for her birthday in her castle.”

“When the letter arrived in the post the children got excited and shouted “it’s from the Queen, it has a crown on.”

“The children were so happy that the queen had got her glittery card and loved their special letter from the postman.”
