Patients at Melton’s Latham House Medical Practice have access to a new online service from today (Thursday) on which they can request appointments and have online consultations with doctors and nurses.

The new digital service operated by the NHS is called Engage Consult and it allows patients and carers to connect with their GP practice and access services online from a PC, tablet or smartphone.

The move is part of major temporary changes at Latham House in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Patients are told now not to attend the practice but to call ahead first so staff can assess how they should be treated.

Kate Hunter, executive manager at the practice, said: “Although there has been some challenges to changing our operations we are really pleased with how our patients have responded to the new ways of working and their support of our staff has been overwhelming.

“Through Engage Consult patients will be able to request appointments, ask questions about their medication, access links to trusted self-help advice and also have an online consultation all at a time when it suits them via this new digital service.

“We believe this will now enhance the care we can give our community, offering an online service to support our patients in their own homes whilst still working safely.”

Patients and carers are advised to go to at www.lhmp.co.uk to access the new Engage Consult tool.
