Firefighters called out to rescue sheep from Asfordby river
Firefighters are attempting to rescue sheep which have got stuck in a river at Asfordby this afternoon (Wednesday).
Crews from Melton and Birstall, with a technical rescue team from Leicester’s Southern fire station are at the scene, off Riverside Walk.
A Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said the emergency call was received at 1.33pm and added: “We had reports of sheep stuck in the river.
“The farmer is in attendance and a plan is being formulated to rescue the sheep.”
