The first is a valuation event on October 13. This will be an ‘Antiques Roadshow’-style occasion where Vanessa Savage of Hanson Auctioneers will value prized possessions.

At St Hilda’s Church Centre, Ling Dale, East Goscote, it will start at 11am. Admission is free.

Valuations of individual items or collections will be £5 and refreshments will be available.

The second planned event is an indoor car boot sale on November 17, at St Hilda’s Church Centre and the village hall, from 11am.

Tables will be charged at £5 per 6’ frontage and admission is 50p. It is recommended that tables should be booked in advance as spaces will be limited.

John Malpus, chairman of East Goscote Community Library, said: “In June volunteers took over the running of the library as part of a Leicestershire County Council cost cutting exercise.

“The revenue provided by the council is being reduced year on year which means the trustees have to find increasing amounts of money to balance the books.

“Costs now incurred by the library include insurance, PAT testing and energy. The expenditure budget for this year is approximately £3,000.”
