Pupils complete work of art for school sensory garden

A SENSORY sculpture has been built by pupils as the focal point of a new school sensory garden.

Pupils from Croxton Kerrial Primary School made and installed the kinetic totem pole with help from Belvoir Castle artist-in-residence Laury Dizengremel.

Laury visited the school in May to hold the workshop, which was made possible thanks to a grant from Emma the Duchess of Rutland, funding from Melton Council and a Lincolnshire County Council grant, which will allow Mrs Dizengremel to continue to deliver educational workshops to schools.

Fourteen pupils took part in the art lesson which included fastening seashells, feathers and corks to the two metre pole.

The workshops follow on from the success of a temporary sculpture trail on the Belvoir Castle estate last year, which involved local school contribution.
