Final reminder to sign up for Hamilton Fun Run

People can register on the monring of the event but organisers would prefer it if entrants pre-registered to avoid delays.

The event next Sunday (August 14) has been organised in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust in support of Sam Mayfield, a Melton man who is fighting bowel cancer.

The 3.4 mile fun run will start at Hamilton Tennis Club at 11am. Before the race begins, staff from Waterfield Leisure Centre will lead a short warm up. Participants are encouraged to run, jog or walk the distance. Dog walkers are also welcome.

Admission is £3 and refundable if £10 minimum sponsorship is gained. There will be medals for finishers as well as prizes for best fancy dress and most sponsorship.

Other attractions include a bouncy castle, face painting, stalls, a raffle, tyre tennis and a fancy dress photo booth.

Organiser Patrick Wainwright said: “We will be fundraising in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust for Sam Mayfield. He is currently undergoing treatment at the Teenage Cancer Trust unit situated at Leicester’s Royal Infirmary.

“His positivity and bravery are inspirational to those who know and follow him. So, please run, jog or walk in the fun run or come and enjoy the fundraising activities afterwards.”

Last year the event raised £2291.25 for Cancer Research UK.
