The Secret Life Of Pets (U) For anyone wondering how their pets behave when they're not at home, The Secret Life Of Pets reveals their antics '“ dreamt up by the ingenious minds at Illumination Entertainment, the creators of Minions. Wily terrier Max (Louis C. K., American Hustle) loses his preferred pooch status when his owner acquires a large, sloppy mongrel named Duke (Eric Stonestreet). The pair find themselves lost in New York, where they meet a posse of abandoned pets led by a deceptively lovable rabbit (Hart). Their adventures radiate an acid wit, amply characterised by Chloe (Bell), a smugly obese pussycat: 'I'm your friend, and as your friend I gotta be honest, I don't care about you or your problems.' Elvis & Nixon (15) America’s National Archives’ most requested photo is of the king of rock ’n’ roll shaking hands with President Nixon. This riveting comedy drama tells the surreal story behind the iconic image, revealing how Elvis turned up at the White House in December 1970 requesting an audience with Nixon. He was there, ostensibly, to offer to go undercover for the Bureau Of Narcotics And Dangerous Drugs. As the heavily sideburned singer, Michael Shannon (99 Homes) perfectly captures Elvis’s swagger and drawl, whilst Kevin Spacey as Nixon betrays that odd mixture of insecurity and bombast that characterised the soon-to-be impeached president. The results are both hugely comic and a little sorrowful, with Elvis demonstrating his kung fu moves and arsenal of pistols as evidence of his suitability, and Nixon gradually realising how the pop star might boost his flagging fortune. Now You See Me 2 (12A) The self-proclaimed but undeniably enigmatic Four Horsemen – the master magicians who defy the laws of physics and indeed, the law – are back. Michael Caine remains their shadowy backer with Morgan Freeman as Thaddeus Bradley, the illusion debunker. This time Danny Atlas (Eisenberg), Merritt McKinney (Harrelson), Jack Wilder (Dave Franco) and newcomer Lula (Caplan, Bachelorette) are blackmailed by a ruthless tech mogul (Daniel Radcliffe) to pull off their most audacious heist caper yet. However, cynical FBI agent and erstwhile fifth Horseman Dylan Rhodes (Mark Ruffalo) is on their case, along with a new partner, agent Natalie Austin (Sanaa Lathan, Contagion).
