Melton Theatre is again in the running for the UK’s Most Welcoming Theatre 2016 award, in the UK Theatre Awards, but it needs your votes to stand a chance.

The winners of this year’s award will be decided by a public vote cast before noon on Monday, September 19. Votes can be cast at www.uktheatre.org/vote

This year there are 241 venues across the country competing to take home the coveted title with the 12 regional and national winners of the vote announced on September 29. The overall award winner will be announced at the UK Theatre Awards on October 9.

The UK Theatre Awards are the only nationwide awards to honour outstanding achievement in theatre throughout the UK. The awards are supported by Smooth Radio, UK Theatre Insurance, White Light, Theatre Tokens, John Good and Harbottle & Lewis.

UK Theatre chief executive Julian Bird said: “Theatres throughout the UK play a crucial role in the heart of our communities and continue to thrive despite the challenging financial climate.

“This award gives audiences a platform to show how much their venue means to them and celebrate the hard work of everyone who helps make a theatre run.”

Melton Theatre co-ordinator Michael Harris-Wakelam said: “We’re thrilled that we’re again nominated for the UK Theatre Awards’ Most Welcoming Theatre. It’s the third year running we’ve been nominated but we need as many votes as possible.”
