Valentine’s Day will be busy again for wedding singer George Simpson and make-up artist Rochelle O’Brien.
The Melton duo just missed on national accolades in the 2015 Wedding Industry Awards after winning their respective regional heat categories.
The publicity certainly hasn’t done any harm to both of their careers but they were in big demand for their services anyway.
George, who attended the lavish presentation for the national awards last week at the Cafe de Paris in London, said: “I was gutted not to win the national award.
“But winning the regional award will help with future bookings and I want more gigs in the East Midlands.”
He is considering entering a TV talent show after seeing the success of his friend Howard Rose on The Voice.
George is appearing at Melton Theatre on February 20 with Howard and Gary Barlow tribute act Dan Hadfield.
Rochelle has now won the regional heat of the contest three years running.
“I am pretty busy anyway and I am having to turn away more work than I able to book,” said Rochelle.
“It is nice to win awards, though, and to be recognised for what you do.”
