The hospice is once again organising the event in the picturesque grounds of Belvoir Castle and hopes people of all ages will join in the festive spirt.

The event is on Sunday, December 4, at 10.30am, and entrants will have the opportunity to take on a 2.5km or a 5km route as well as a new 10km route to raise money for the hospice.

Amanda George, fundraising administrator for Dove Cottage, said: “We have introduced a new 10km route this time so hopefully that will increase the number of participants.

“Traditionally hundreds of people have strolled around Melton for our annual Moonlight Walk and so this offers something a little bit different.

“We’re delighted that The Duchess of Rutland will be starting off this year’s event.”

More than 300 people took part in last year’s Santa fun run and walk, which raised around £8,000.

Registration, which includes a Santa suit, is £12 for adults and children 13 and over, £5 for children under 12 and free for children three and under. Participants will be issued with a number, sponsor form and route map on receipt of registration.

Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times and presents must be picked up.
