The winner of the annual Melton Mowbray Food Festival competition to win a luxury hamper has been announced.
Richard Rush of Melton completed a feedback form at this year’s festival in October, and his name was drawn at random from a record number of entrants.
Plans are already underway for next year’s event which will be held October 1-2 2016.
Dr Matthew O’Callaghan (OBE), organiser of the Melton Mowbray Food Festival, said: “We’re delighted that someone from Melton won the hamper, especially as Richard is a regular visitor.
“This year saw around a 10 per cent increase in visitor numbers. Many exhibitors reported increased sales on last year and are wanting to book again early for next year. We’re also very grateful to both Tesco and Lidl’s community teams who supported the event.”
The festival is organised by the Melton Mowbray Food Partnership with support from Samworth Brothers, NFU Mutual, Bouverie Lodge and Melton Borough Council.
