In this seat-edging follow-up to Olympus Has Fallen, secret agent Mike Banning (Butler) must somehow deflect the numerous lethal attacks that Barkawi (Alon Aboutboul) gleefully deploys. February 1952: oil tanker the SS Pendleton is ripped in half in a vicious storm off America’s East Coast, leaving the crew marooned in its stern. Four members of the coastguard including Captain Webber (Pine) and Warrant Officer Cluff (Bana) are dispatched on a daring rescue mission. Director Craig Gillespie ramps up the tension as the two crews valiantly battle to overcome freezing temperatures, massive waves and human frailty in this true story. This riveting, crisply fashioned thriller centres on a CBS news investigation into George W. Bush’s military service record. During the 2004 presidential campaign, producer Mary Mapes (Blanchett) and anchorman Dan Rather (Redford) are tipped off that Bush dodged his patriotic duty in the Vietnam War. Mapes assembles an expert team to gather evidence about the allegations.
