There will be two evenings of note for local history buffs next week.

Arthur Payne and Colin Avery delve back into their own personal archives to present their very first series of Old Melton at the Samworth Centre on Saturday from 7.30pm.

Tickets are £3 and available from Gillian on (01664) 851386. All proceeds go to St Bartholomew’s Church, Welby.

* Professional archivist Peter Foden shares his insights into the social history of the Vale of Belvoir on Tuesday at Eastwell History Group’s monthly meeting. It takes place at Goadby Marwood Village Hall from 7pm and costs £1.50 for non-members.
