Pupils from three Melton primary schools have joined a creative project inspired by BBC Ten Pieces which aims to encourage young people to get creative with classical music.

Birch Wood Special School, Brownlow Primary School and St Mary’s Primary School have been working with professional musicians from Sinfonia Viva and from Leicester-Shire Schools Music Service.

They have devised their own pieces inspired by Mozart’s 4th Horn Concerto which they will perform alongside the Sinfonia Viva orchestra at Leicester’s De Montfort Hall, on Wednesday, June 24 and Thursday, July 2.

Brownlow Primary School headteacher Damien Turrell said: “Our five children have been truly inspired by Mozart’s 4th Horn Conerto and by the musicians from Sinfonia Viva.”

Robbie Hesketh of Birch Wood Special School said: “It was truly amazing to see the children involved having such a positive experience that really enriched their school lives.”
