Melton's Santa's Sleigh route 2016

Members of the Rotary Club of Melton Mowbray Belvoir, Inner Wheel, Guides and Round Table will again escort Santa's Sleigh on the annual street collection.

Last year, as a result of the collection and other fundraising activities, more than £10,000 was given to organisations as diverse as Melton Churches Together, Seniors Walking Club, Melton Learning Hub, Nicholls Spinal Injury Foundation and Melton Vale Post 16 Centre.

Santa will make his first appearance on Monday, when the sleigh will be in Nottingham Road area on Melton, starting from The Welby pub at 6pm.

On Tuesday, it will be in the Scalford Road area, starting from Wymondham Way at 6pm. Wednesday will see the sleigh go to the Dalby Road area, starting from Queensway Community Centre at 6pm.

Next Thursday, the sleigh is in the Valley Road area, starting from the Cherry Tree pub at 6pm.

On Friday, (Dec 9), the Baldocks Lane area will be the sleigh’s destination at 6pm and next Saturday, (Dec 10), it visits the Thorpe End area, starting from Beechwood Avenue at 5pm.

Santa will also be at Sainsbury’s daily from Monday to Wednesday between 10am and 4pm, Lidl daily from Thursday to Saturday, (Dec 8,9, 10), between 10am and 4pm and Tesco daily from Monday to Sunday, (Dec 12 to 18), between 10am and 4pm.

Santa will do his very best to keep to the evening routes and times but they may have to be varied should unforeseen circumstances arise.

The Vale of Belvoir Lions Club will be lending a hand to Santa as he tours the Vale of Belvoir and local villages on his sleigh during the Lions’ annual Christmas charity collection.

Weather permitting, he plans to visit Stathern and Harby on Sunday between 5.30pm and 8.30pm, Langar, Barnstone, Granby and Sutton on Monday between 6pm and 8.30pm, Redmile, Barkestone-le-Vale and Plungar on Tuesday between 6pm and 8.30pm, Aslockton and Whatton on Thursday, (Dec 8), between 6pm and 8.30pm, Normanton, Orston and Elton on Friday, (Dec 9), between 6pm and 8.30pm.

The sleigh will visit Bingham South, Millhill Road, Charnock Gardens, Wildflower Estate and Bottesford pubs and restaurants on Saturday, (Dec 10), between 5.30pm and 8.30pm, Bingham South, Starnhill Way, Chapelfield Grove, Southfield Road, Tithby Road, Langar Road, Spinney Road, Charnworth Road, Musters Road, Porchester Road, Swale Grove, Frome Road and Welland Gardens on Sunday, (Dec 11), between 5.30pm and 8.30pm.

On Tuesday, (Dec 13), between 6.30pm and 8.30pm, the route will be Bingham Bird and Tree Estates, Bottesford West on Thursday, (Dec 15), between 6pm and 8.30pm, Bottesford Central on Friday, (Dec 16), between 6pm and 8.30pm and Bottesford East, Easthorpe, Muston and Bottesford pubs and restaurants on Saturday, (Dec 17), between 5.30pm and 8.30pm.
