Youngsters aged three to 12 can join in the Big Friendly Read this summer at Melton Library.

The summer reading challenge invites children to read six books during the school holidays.

Each child will receive a membership pack, prizes and, on completion, a special certificate. The theme is the ‘Big Friendly Read’ based on the 100th anniversary of ‘Big Friendly Giant’ author Roald Dahl’s birthday.

The play adapted by Stewart Melton, from the award-winning novel by Dave Shelton, is £3 for children and £2 for adults. Pre-booking is essential.

iPad taster sessions are also being offered for those who wish to learn more about their tablet devices. A one hour session is available at £6 or £8 for two people. Pre-booking is essential.
